Answers to the most common questions about ClearKun usage, scanning safety, privacy, and licensing.

General Questions

What is ClearKun?

ClearKun is a modern Windows storage management application designed to help you understand where disk space is used, identify large and duplicate files, and safely clean up unneeded data without risking system corruption.

Is ClearKun free to use?

ClearKun offers a generous Free / Starter tier for basic storage inspection and safe cleanups. Advanced capabilities like deep AppData pruning, full Developer cleanups, and duplicate file removal are unlocked via a one-time Lifetime Pro license.

Does ClearKun upload my personal files to the cloud?

No, absolutely not. ClearKun processes all files 100% locally on your PC. Only file metadata (paths, sizes, timestamps) is evaluated in memory. Your file contents never leave your device.

Scanning & Performance

How fast is a typical drive scan?

On standard NVMe SSDs, ClearKun indexes 500,000 files in approximately 3 to 8 seconds. On mechanical HDDs (hard disk drives), scanning typically takes 1 to 4 minutes depending on fragmentation.

Will ClearKun slow down my computer while scanning?

No. ClearKun uses low-priority I/O background threads that yield to active foreground applications, preventing lag or CPU spikes.

Can ClearKun scan external USB drives and secondary hard drives?

Yes. ClearKun supports all internal and external drives formatted with NTFS, FAT32, exFAT, and ReFS.

Safety & Cleanup

Is it possible to break Windows with ClearKun?

No. ClearKun features hardcoded protection boundaries forbidding the deletion of critical Windows system files (System32, WinSxS, driver stores, boot records).

Where do deleted files go?

By default, all deleted items are moved to the Windows Recycle Bin, allowing you to restore any file instantly.

What happens if an application is using a file during cleanup?

ClearKun detects active file locks and safely skips locked files instead of forcing unsafe deletion.
