How ClearKun Identifies Duplicates

ClearKun uses a multi-stage deterministic comparison to identify genuine duplicates without unnecessary disk thrashing:

1. Size Match: Groups files with identical byte sizes.
2. Header Hash (Fast Pass): Computes a fast cryptographic hash of the first 4 KB of candidate files.
3. Full Content Hash (Verification Pass): For files with matching headers, computes a full SHA-256 hash to guarantee 100% data identity before suggesting removal.

Duplicate Group Management

Duplicate files are presented in linked clusters:

• Original Marker: Highlights the oldest file or the copy located in your primary document library.
• Smart Auto-Selection: Offers intelligent pre-selection rules:
  • Keep newest file in each group
  • Keep oldest file in each group
  • Keep copy with the cleanest file name (e.g., discard report (1).pdf in favor of report.pdf)
• Visual Preview: View thumbnail previews of duplicate photos and media side-by-side before deletion.
