Troubleshooting

Common Issues

2 min read•Verified for Windows 10 & 11

Resolutions for licensing key validation errors, long file path limits (MAX_PATH), and display scaling quirks.

Issue 1: "Invalid License Key" Error

Solution

  1. Verify you have entered the key in the exact canonical format CK-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX as shown in your Account Portal.
  2. Ensure there are no leading or trailing whitespace characters.
  3. Verify your device is connected to the internet during initial key activation so our server can validate the signature.
  4. If you have already activated the key on another device, deactivate the old device first from your account portal.

Issue 2: Long Path Errors (Paths Exceeding 260 Characters)

Cause

Legacy Windows systems enforce a 260-character path limit (MAX_PATH). Deeply nested developer folders (node_modules) frequently exceed this threshold.

Solution

ClearKun supports long paths natively using unicode prefixes (\\?\\). If Windows Explorer fails to delete long paths:

  1. Enable Long Path Support in Windows Registry (LongPathsEnabled = 1 in HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem).
  2. Use ClearKun's built-in Developer Clean tool to purge the directory directly.

Issue 3: UI Blurriness on High-DPI Displays (4K Monitors)

Solution

ClearKun is fully DPI-aware. If text appears scaled incorrectly on multi-monitor setups with mismatched scaling (e.g., 100% and 150%):

  1. Right-click ClearKun shortcut > Properties > Compatibility.
  2. Click Change high DPI settings.
  3. Check Override high DPI scaling behavior and set scaling performed by Application.
